This project explores how financial services and technologies could better support the money-minding responsibilities of family carers through speculative and participatory design methods. Minding money is a common caregiving task that is ill-served by existing financial services, technologies and third-party access mechanisms. As a result, carers and those they care for often resort to risky informal workarounds, such as sharing bank cards, PINs, and Internet banking credentials. This project will engage family carers in envisioning new kinds of financial services and technologies that could facilitate flexible, proportionate and safe money-minding in care contexts.
